There was an arrest warrant out for the man shot and killed Saturday by Pierce County sheriff's deputies after a chase in Puyallup.

The News Tribune of Tacoma reports 30-year-old Jason D. Burrow of Spanaway had been charged with assault for choking his girlfriend's 12-year-old son.

The sheriff's office says Burrow was speeding when deputies tried to pull him over, and the chase ended in the South Hill area.

The sheriff's office says Burrow rammed a patrol car and was driving at high speed at two deputies when they fired. He died at the scene.
