An Armstrong County man attacked his estranged wife early this morning before killing himself, police said.
State police in Kittannning identified the man as Wesley Lane Cousins, 47, of Washington Township. The man entered the house of his estranged wife, Michelle Cousins, 41, sometime around 3 a.m. and fired a pistol several times, police said. The woman was struck in the abdomen, hand and lower torso.
Cousins, who was armed with a semi-automatic pistol and a .357 Magnum revolver, then shot himself, police said. He died at the scene.
Michelle Cousins was able to call 911 for assistance and was taken to UPMC Presbyterian in Oakland. Her condition was not available.
