A Conway man pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and was sentenced to 30 years in prison in connection with the shooting death of his estranged wife's boyfriend in May, according to the 15th Circuit Solicitor's Office.

Jeffrey Todd Horan, 24, was charged with murder in the shooting May 12 with murder and first-degree burglary in the shooting death of Hubert James Aland, 30, inside a townhouse in the Forestbrook area. But Horan pleaded guilty to the lesser charge and Circuit Court Judge Thomas Russo sentenced Horan to 30 years in prison, according to a news release issued Friday.

Police said Horan forced his way into his estranged wife's apartment, walked to a back room and shot Aland multiple times at Bahama Bay Villas on 950 Forestbrook Road. Horan was arrested about four hours after the incident after police bloodhounds found him in a wooded area near the townhouse.

Horan and his estranged wife had a rocky relationship with police being called for several incidents between the couple before the shooting., according to police and court records.

Three weeks before the shooting, Horan was arrested for breaking into the home of Tashana Cameron, his estranged wife, confronting her about her ``new boyfriend'' and assaulting her, according to a police report.

Horan spent two days in jail last week on a criminal domestic violence charge, according to an arrest warrant. According to a police report, Horan was angry with Cameron for having a new boyfriend and went to her home on April 22 to confront her. He broke a window and entered Cameron's home.

Family members said Horan pushed his way into the townhouse, walked to a back bedroom and shot Aland in front of the couple's children, ages 3 and 4, then threatened to turn the gun on himself before fleeing.
