A 39-year-old man fatally shot himself after confronting his ex-wife in a parking lot outside the Ventura County courthouse, authorities said today.
The man, whose name was not released, was apparently upset over the property settlement in the couple’s divorce, said Capt. Ross Bonfiglio, a spokesman for the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department.
The incident occurred about 8:20 a.m. as court employees, attorneys, law enforcement personnel and jurors were starting their day at the busy government complex.
