Announcement: VA Domestic Violence-Related Murder-Suicide, Family Holds Benefit for the 3 Children

SOUTHERN MARYLAND - 9/2/2009

By Laura Lyon

On April 27, a husband and wife were found dead in their home in Warrenton, VA. Investigators believe it was a domestic violence related murder-suicide. The husband tragically took the life of his wife, Tara Curtain-Lyon, 30, and then his own, leaving three small children behind.

Curtain-Lyon grew up in Southern Maryland, graduating from Chopticon High School in 1997. Most of the family members continue to reside in the Southern Maryland communities and with the support of her family the children now reside in Southern Maryland with them.

The family is holding a benefit for the children on Sept. 26 at the White Plains Moose Lodge located at 4765 Crain Hwy. During the benefit, the family will have a 50/50 raffle, silent auction, live entertainment and a buffet style dinner.

All proceeds will go to a Trust Fund that has been set up for the children. Everyone is welcome to come and show their support.

Those who would like to attend the Benefit/Dance should contact Scott at (301) 645-2525 or visit the family Web site, www.rememberingtara.com. Tickets are $25 each.
