LITTLETON, Colo. - A man and his estranged wife were in critical condition with gunshot wounds Tuesday evening in -what appears to be- an attempted murder-suicide.

The incident happened around 7 a.m. inside a white truck near the intersection of W. Mineral Ave. and W. Mineral Place.

Police say the couple, identified as 38-year-old Randall Waggoner and 35-year-old Christina Waggoner, had arranged to meet that morning despite a restraining order against Randall. They drove from their meeting place to the intersection where witnesses reported hearing gunshots, then saw Christina Waggoner leave the truck and collapse to the ground, Littleton Police said.

The truck then rolled across the intersection and came to rest on the south side of Mineral Ave.

Randall Waggoner was found inside the vehicle with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, police said. Christina Waggoner had sustained a single gunshot wound to the head. Both were transported to Littleton Adventist Hospital.

A small caliber pistol was found inside the truck, according to police.

Police say the couple had history of domestic violence incidents while living in Douglas County. FOX 31 has learned that Randall Waggoner was arrested in July on a domestic violence assault charge involving a deadly weapon.
