Havanna FL: Havana Attempted Murder-Suicide

Deputies say Seward Bell went into his wife's home, shot her and then ran into the woods and took his own life.

According to police reports Seward Bell shot his wife in the shoulder at her home on Monday night and then went into the woods and took his own life.

Shelia was taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital and friends tell us she had part of her shoulder removed but is expected to recover.

Seward and Sheila Bell own the Corner Bar in Havana, Florida.

Deputies say the couple was married, but were estranged and living a few houses apart on Ames Barrineau Road.

Deputies say Seward left a note, but they are not releasing the contents of the note.

Shots ring out in Gadsden County and deputies say it's a case of attempted murder-suicide.

Deputies say it happened just before midnight Monday night (8/17) in Havana, Florida.

They say 47-year-old Seward Bell shot his estranged wife, 49-year-old Sheila Bell, and then turned the gun on himself.

Deputies say Seward Bell died.

His wife survived the shooting and was taken to Tallahassee Memorial in critical condition with a wound to the chest and shoulder area.

Deputies say the two were estranged and lived two houses apart in Havana. He left a note but authorities won't say what it contained.
