Authorities say a man and a woman have been found dead in their rented house in Hammond in an apparent murder-suicide.
Police tell The Times of Munster that the woman suffered gunshot wounds to her neck and face, and the man was found with a single gunshot wound to his head Thursday afternoon. They said a large-caliber pistol was found on the floor near the man’s body.
Police said neighbors reported an older sister of the woman, who has lived with couple in the home for the past two years, found the bodies after the woman failed to return to her job as a receptionist at a nearby chiropractic clinic.
Family members gathered at the scene but declined comment.
