A Harahan firefighter uses a fire hose to clean off the front porch after a man used a shotgun to kill a woman in front of her home in the 900 block of Oak Avenue in Harahan on Thursday.A man and a woman are dead in an apparent murder-suicide in Harahan, according to authorities.
Harahan Police officers responded to a home in the 900 block of Oak Avenue in Harahan just after 3 p.m. and found the bodies of the man and the woman in front of the residence, according to Police Chief Peter Dale.
M.A. Goldman, an investigator for the Jefferson Parish Coroner's Office, identified the dead as Charmaine Carroll, 29, and Jason Whitney, 29. Autopsies are scheduled for Friday morning.
"It looks like a domestic situation. A male shot the female and then put the gun to his head and shot himself," Dale said.
No one else was injured.
Carroll had two children, but they have been accounted for.
