A Madera County man and his wife were found dead Sunday afternoon in what police are calling an apparent murder-suicide. The couple's daughter discovered the bodies of 51-year-old Leslie Gillis and 61-year-old Gerald Gillis at their home near San Bruno and Watt Street. The call was received by Madera dispatch around 4:44 pm. Deputies believe at least one shot was heard around 2 p.m. Sunday, according to reports. According to a report released by Madera County Sheriff John Anderson, Leslie was found inside the home with gun shot wounds. Gerald was found in the front yard of the home with what appears to be a self-inflicted gun shout wound, said Anderson. As of now, investigators say there are no signs that indicate the incident was more than a domestic case turned murder-suicide. This is the first homicide to occur in the county this year. |
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
