Just hours after appearing on KATC, and appealing for the public's help in the disappearance of his girlfriend Davina Chapman, authorities say John Larry Snyder confessed to playing a role in her death. Chapman's body was found off the side of the four mile bridge in Pointe Coupee Parish late Monday night.

"Everybody is holding out hope, we're all still holding out hope," said Snyder in an interview Monday afternoon.

Snyder has been charged with second degree murder in Pointe Coupee Parish, and aggravated kidnapping in St. Landry Parish. The pair were last seen leaving Kelly's Tavern in Krotz Springs around 10:30 Saturday night, but officials believe Snyder took Chapman against her will.

"He became a person of interest because they had an argument that night, he was with her that night and so we were looking at him from the beginning," said St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz.

Authorities say Chapman's body was badly traumatized, but an exact cause of death is still unclear. An autopsy will be conducted Wednesday afternoon.
