by KYW's Jim Melwert Authorities call a pair of shooting deaths in Delaware County on Monday night a terrible tragedy. It started with a man shooting his ex-girlfriend and ended with a Chester City police officer shooting the man, the son of another officer. When police were called to the 1500 block of Constitution Avenue in the Woodland section of Ridley Township late Monday night, they found 23-year-old Andrea Arrington (right) shot multiple times (see previous story). Witnesses tell police that Arrington was shot at least 10 times, but Delaware County DA Mike Green says she was still able to lead police to her shooter: “In a dying declaration, Andrea was able to tell the police officers that Aaron Michael shot her." Police tracked down Michael, 29 (top photo), to a home on the 100 block of West 23rd Street in Chester -- a home he shared with his father, who is a police officer in Chester. Investigators say Michael allegedly pointed a gun at police, and an officer fired one shot that hit him in the chest and killed him. And, officials say, just minutes before he was shot Michael also called two friends and admitted to killing two young children he had fathered with two different women over the past five years.

A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
