An Ellwood City man is facing homicide charges after, police say, he strangled his live-in girlfriend.
Keith Wolfrey, 23, was arrested at the couple's apartment at 804 Pershing St. after calling the police about 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
He is charged with criminal homicide and abuse of corpse. Mr. Wolfrey was arraigned Sunday evening and held without bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 1.
Investigators have not yet released the victim's name, but she is described as a 20-year-old woman. The couple had a 6-month-old baby, police said.

Canton, OH: Ohio police find missing woman's body in trunk of her car, jail boyfriend on murder charge

CANTON, Ohio — A 19-year-old northeast Ohio man faces a murder charge after police found his missing girlfriend's body in the trunk of her car, parked in the driveway of a neighbor who gave the man a place to stay for the night.
Joshua Babcock of Canton was arrested Thursday when police looking for Monique Crockett, 25, found her decomposing body in the trunk of her Pontiac Grand Prix. Detectives believe the mother of three had been dead for at least a week, the Canton Repository reported.
Babcock remained in jail Saturday on $2 million bond. His attorney did not immediately respond to an Associated Press message seeking comment.
Police Capt. Dave Davis said an autopsy did not immediately indicate how Crockett died, and more test results are pending.
The car was found outside the home of Babcock's former neighbor, Pam Walker. She told the newspaper she was letting Babcock spend the night on her couch and she had no warning about what police would find in the car, which had been parked in her driveway since Babcock and a friend told her the car broke down about a week earlier.
"If I had any inkling whatsoever, I would've called police," Walker said. She said Babcock had always seemed quiet, a contrast to the outspoken Crockett.
"When he was here, he walked around here like nothing happened," she said. "He was here during the day, working on (the car) to get it running. ... He never seemed upset. He seemed happy all the time."
Police who came to Walker's home also arrested a 17-year-old boy who was friends with Babcock and who dated Walker's daughter, the newspaper said. The boy and Babcock were taken into custody on burglary warrants, though it wasn't clear whether the burglary allegations were related to Crockett's death.
Walker said Babcock and Crockett had been living out of Crockett's car after recently being evicted from their home. She said Babcock didn't work, and Crockett was employed at a nursing home.

A Texas man has been charged with the murder of his girlfriend after she was allegedly dragged behind his car by a rope around her neck.
Theron Wayne Johnson is alleged to have sped off after his girlfriend placed the noose over her head and tied it to the bumper of his pickup truck.
The 47-year-old told police he and his girlfriend, who has not been named, had been arguing.

Police found the victim in a field in the rural town of Weston in Collin County with the rope still attached to her and to the bumper of a vehicle.
Johnson claimed the victim had placed the rope around her neck, but police have yet to determine if he is telling the truth.
It is unclear how far the woman was dragged, or the extent of her injuries.
A medical examiner is determining the cause of death but it is thought likely to be strangulation or blunt-force trauma caused by the dragging.
'We're not sure exactly,' said Collin County Sheriff John Norton.
'We're sure they were involved in an argument prior to her death, but we're still not sure what occurred.'
Norton said investigators are in the process of contacting the victim's next of kin and cannot release her identity or information that might reveal her identity.

DULUTH - Kay Marie Sisto was murdered by her husband one year ago this month, and this Sunday she will be remembered in a domestic violence walk and run.
Jordan Peterson, 21, one of Kay’s sons, said he misses his best friend and loving mom.
"She was probably the most gorgeous girl I knew,” Jordan said.
Last May, Kay was taken away from Jordan and his brothers in a worst case of domestic violence anyone could ever experience.
"She was the one person I always went to. I told her everything," Jordan said.
Through a severely possessive mind, Jordan's father shot and killed Kay in the family's home before killing himself.
“Never in a million years would have thought he would have done it. But he did,” Jordan said.
After 30 years of marriage, Jordan said his father changed so much that Kay wanted to finally get a divorce.
"She just wasn't happy. She didn't pay as much attention to him as he wanted her to. That was the control aspect," Jordan said.
And that control followed the deadly rage that no one thought would ever happen.
"I saw bullets probably five days before, and to my surprise, they were the bullets that shot her three times in the head," Jordan said.
As Jordan was preparing for the walk, he said he was hoping his tragedy will help prevent others from going through the same pain.
"Don't be passive about it. That's one of the things I regret absolutely entirely right now as being passive about the whole situation. He's not going to do it,” Jordan said.
Jordan said the warning signs were clear, but said it was hard to comprehend when it involved his own father.
"He didn't bathe. He isolated himself. He didn't want to collaborate with anyone else. All he wanted was her. He didn't care about us. What we did. It was just pure control,” Jordan said.
As Jordan tries to move forward, never forgetting his mother, he said he was focusing on getting his pre-medicine degree to make her proud.
"My mom always told me, Jordan, I want you to be my young doctor," he said.
And he said he was also hoping to keep her name alive for a long time to come through public awareness, like the upcoming memorial walk.
“She is continuing her legacy even after she's dead. And I'm trying, but it's hard. She was something I couldn't match to, but I can surely try,” Jordan smiled.

Jeffery Keith Prevost, 51, is now charged with the capital murder of his girlfriend and her son.
Sherry White, 51, and her 20-year-old son Kyle Lavergne were both killed Friday, police said.
The shootings happened at the victims' home off Ferdinand and Brinkley.
Relatives were worried when they hadn't heard from the two in a couple days. They forced their way into the home and found their loved ones' bodies.
Family friend Kenneth Terrell knew White her entire life. He described her as a good friend and neighbor and an excellent mother.
Her son always had smile on his face, he said. Lavergne graduated from Lamar High School in 2009 and was studying to become an airline mechanic.
"[White] was a very good, kind, loving person, and I know that if others of her family were speaking, they would be able to tell you that this is senseless. This is the most senseless act," Terrell said.
White dated Prevost only for a couple months. Police have confirmed what family members suspected -- that White was trying end her brief relationship with Prevost, and he did not like that.
Police also say Prevost came back to the scene Saturday afternoon and acted as if nothing had happened.

After jurors last month convicted David Denson of murder and other charges for the 2009 murder of Dusty Rose Vasquez, prosecutors say the 32-year-old Denson was sentenced to 153 years to life on Friday.
The Sacramento Bee reports that police and prosecutors say Denson went to a man's house he believed was seeing his girlfriend. Vasquez, who was the man's sister, was shot when she went to the door.
The newspaper says Denson also attempted to shoot other family members who were in the house.
Besides murder, Denson was also convicted and sentenced for attempted murder and for being a felon in possession of a gun.

Steve Ohlinger sat inside his house on Harris Avenue on the West Side yesterday, recalling repeated domestic troubles that his neighbors, Brian and Cynthia Trudeau, had across the street.
"There was all kinds of drama over there," Ohlinger said.
The drama between husband and wife ended tragically in the wee hours yesterday morning, when Brian Trudeau, 48, shot and killed his wife, Cynthia, 42, while driving with her in her truck, Franklin County deputy sheriffs said. Mr. Trudeau then fatally shot himself in a Roosters Wings restaurant parking lot on the Far West Side after a deputy tried to pull him over for speeding.

A deputy saw Mr. Trudeau traveling about 70 mph in a red and white Ford pickup truck, heading west on Broad Street near Phillipi Road, between 3:30 and 4a.m., said sheriff's Detective Sgt. Bill Duffer.
Duffer said that when the deputy tried to stop Trudeau after he ran a red light, Trudeau pulled the truck into the Roosters lot at Lincoln Village Plaza and shot himself in the head.
When the deputy reached the truck, he found Mrs. Trudeau in the passenger seat, dead of a single gunshot.
"It all happened inside the truck," Duffer said. "My theory is he shot her at some point and then he turned the gun on himself."
The Trudeaus lived in a house at 158 Harris Ave. Their neighbor Ohlinger said Mrs. Trudeau moved out months ago but had been seen back at the house over the past few days.
Ohlinger said he saw the couple leave the home together around 8 p.m. Friday.
"I've lived in this house for 10 years, and they've been at each other's throats," Ohlinger said. "It got so bad that if they were fighting, I'd bring my grandkids inside."
Records show that assault, domestic-violence and endangering-children charges against Mr. Trudeau, stemming from a 2009 incident, were dropped. Some of his relatives, who asked not to be named, told The Dispatch that the couple fought constantly and battled addiction.
"We're very saddened by the fact that he took Cindy's life," one said, "but we're also blessed that he didn't get in an accident and take someone else with them."
The crime scene, which included the truck, was cleared around 11:30 a.m.
Employees arriving at the Roosters and the Long John Silver's/A&W restaurant next door were shocked to find the parking lot roped off. A steady stream of morning shoppers also slowed at the yellow caution tape to gawk at the scene.
Mariah Dunetz had her baby in the car with her as she drove through the lot. Dunetz said she lives just a block away and stopped to see whether people in the neighborhood should be scared because someone was on the run.
When told of the circumstances, she was saddened but a bit relieved.
"Violence is violence, and that's terrible," she said. "But there's kids out here, you know, and we have to keep an eye on what's happening so that we can keep them safe."

It all happened Saturday morning around 7:30 a.m. in the town of Whitakers.
One of the victims, Sheldon Whittaker, spoke with Eyewitness News.
"I didn't seem him with the weapon," Whittaker said of the shooting suspect, James Radford, 63. "I heard the shot."
Whittaker says Radford's wife, Terri, was staying with a friend just down the road. He says the two had separated, and she had taken out a restraining order against him. This morning, he says Radford approached him, and after being told he was trespassing, went back to his car, grabbed a shotgun, and fired one shot into Whitaker's car.
"If you look at the trajectory of the bullet, he was aiming at my head," Whittaker said.
Police say Radford then proceeded to the home of Martha Worrell, where he found his estranged wife. He allegedly shot at both women, hitting Worrell in the arm, and hitting his wife Terri in the stomach.
That's when investigators say he turned the gun on himself.
His wife died, he did not. Instead, Radford was flown to Pitt Memorial Hospital in critical condition. Family and friends are beside themselves.
"Nobody should have to go through this," said Brenda Hamm. "There's no sense in this violence. Life is too short."

OLYMPIA — The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating whether an 81-year-old Yelm man committed a murder-suicide by giving his wife a toxic chemical cocktail in their home before drinking it himself.
Anthony Fetter and his 81-year-old wife, Keiko, were found dead May 9 at their home in the 14000 block of 129th Lane Southeast in Yelm.
According to a search warrant affidavit to search Fetter’s computer:
Both are thought to have swallowed a deadly “tricolored orange liquid substance” found in a pitcher and in two glasses on the kitchen counter in the home. When sheriff’s detectives found the bodies, they smelled strong chemicals coming from the liquid and became nauseated when they breathed the fumes.
Keiko Fetter “had very accelerated dementia and was not able to speak in full sentences,” according to an affidavit written by Thurston County Sheriff’s Detective Cameron Simper’s affidavit. “She had difficulty walking and caring for herself. Keiko had been hospitalized recently due to complications. She was released to her husband, with the assumption that he would care for her at the residence with the assistance of an in-home caregiver.”
Anthony Fetter canceled his wife’s Keiko’s in-home care April 15. He also canceled her upcoming neurology appointment.
Simper seized Fetter’s computer equipment to search for evidence. Coroner Gary Warnock said Friday that his office has not determined the cause and manner of the Fetters’ deaths. The theory that Anthony Fetter committed a murder-suicide is just one possibility, he said. A toxicology screen will definitively determine the chemical composition of the liquid the Fetters drank.

RED BANK, HAMILTON COUNTY (WRCB) – Police in Red Bank continue to investigate a double fatal shooting.
According to Red Bank Police Chief Tim Christol, police were called to an apartment at 3501 Dayton Boulevard for a welfare check on a woman threatening suicide.
When officers knocked on the door, Chief Christol says the officers heard a gunshot.
The Red Bank SWAT team was called out and entered the home to find two people dead of gunshot wounds.
Investigators say it appears the woman who lived there, 76 year old Rosemary Dehlin, shot 39 year old Gary Hines of Tunnel Hill. Police say the two were on-again, off-again sweethearts.
Neighbors say they were shocked to hear the news.
Christina McCormick lives upstairs from Dehlin. She says, "It's scary for something like that happen right there."
Perry Davis adds, "She's never had trouble, she's been an upstanding citizen and a great neighbor."
Police are treating the investigation as a murder-suicide.
This is the first homicide recorded in the City of Red Bank since 2006.

Temple Hills, MD: Woman killed, man critically hurt in Temple Hills stabbing

A 21-year-old woman was fatally stabbed and the father of her child was critically wounded Thursday night in Temple Hills, said police and the woman’s mother.
The incident occurred about 11 p.m. in the 3500 block of Leslie Avenue — a cul-de-sac of split-level, single-family homes off Temple Hill Road, police said. In a news alert hours after the slaying, police said the incident was the “result of a domestic dispute.” On Friday afternoon, officers backed off that description, saying they needed to talk to the injured man, who was hospitalized.
“The news alert was the initial information we received,” said Cpl. Clinton Copeland, a Prince George’s County police spokesman. “As of right now, we can’t make that determination that this was a domestic until we’re able to at least speak with the male.”
Law enforcement sources, speaking on the condition of anonymity because they could be disciplined for publicly discussing an ongoing case, said the man’s wounds appeared to be self-inflicted. Cpl. Mike Rodriguez, another Prince George’s police spokesman, said the man called 911 and told authorities that he and the woman had been attacked by a stranger. Detectives were investigating that story Friday, Rodriguez said.
Gwendolyn Stoner, 40, who lives on Leslie Avenue, said the woman killed was her oldest daughter, Tiara Caple. Stoner said Caple went to work Friday night at the PetSmart near their home and was supposed to come back on the bus by about 10:15 p.m. When Caple had not returned by 11 p.m., Stoner said she began calling and texting her. The next thing she knew, Stoner said, the father of Caple’s child was knocking at her door, mumbling that Caple was “up the street, dead.” The man had a cut on his left arm, Stoner said.
“When I got up there, she was laying on the ground, bleeding,” Stoner said.
Caple and the man were taken to a hospital, where Caple died, police said. The man, 21, was hospitalized Friday in critical condition. The Washington Post is not identifying him because he had not been charged with a crime, and the newspaper generally does not name witnesses without their consent.
Stoner said that her daughter and the child’s father had an on-and-off relationship for about three years and that they had a 1-year-old son. She said that the man was abusive and that about a month ago, Caple had moved out of the man’s father’s house after a violent incident. Stoner said her daughter had since been living with her on Leslie Avenue.
Court records show Caple filed for a protective order against the man in February, saying that he had choked her and ripped out her hair. She voluntarily dropped the order days later, writing, “Peace has been worked out.”
Stoner said the two were feuding recently because Caple would not allow the man to see his child without working out an agreement in court.
Family members at the man’s house declined to comment Friday, saying they were seeking information about what happened.
Stoner said her daughter was a soft-spoken woman who loved reading and Japanese culture. She worked as a cashier at PetSmart to support her son, who marked his first birthday with a family party last month.
“She just did not deserve this,” Stoner said. “She was in a bad situation, and she tried to get out of it.”
Stoner said she would seek custody of her daughter’s child. The boy was staying with her Friday.

Cabot, AR: Cabot police release new details into deadly officer-involved shooting

CABOT – Authorities are starting to come forward with more information on a deadly shootout between Cabot Police and a suspect early Saturday morning.
An officer shot and killed a suspect after police say he drew his weapon on the officer just after 1 A.M. Police were initially responding to a domestic disturbance call that appeared to involved the suspect and his girlfriend.
Once officers arrive, the suspect allegedly became uncooperative.
"(The officer) went to pat down the male subject, felt a gun, the male suspect then pulled away from the officer, drew his weapon, the officer drew his, and they exchanged gunfire," said Lt. Brent Lucas, spokesperson for the Cabot Police Department.
The suspect was later pronounced dead at North Metro Hospital in nearby Jacksonville. No one else suffered any injuries.
No names are being released at this time.
As for the officer, he's been placed on paid administrative leave pending results of an investigation.
The Arkansas State Police are also assisting with an investigation.

Wilkes Barre, PA: DA: NE Pa. man angered by domestic dispute kills ex-girlfriend's neighbor, self
WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — Authorities say a man angered by a domestic dispute with his ex-girlfriend burst into her northeastern Pennsylvania apartment and shot three people, killing her next-door neighbor on her 25th birthday, and then killed himself while his intended target hid in a closet with the couple's daughter and another child.
Luzerne County District Attorney Jackie Musto Carroll said 39-year-old James Cooper of Scranton shot and killed Shana Bagley, a mother of three, and wounded two men before turning the gun on himself on Friday at the Hanover Village apartment complex in Hanover Township, just outside Wilkes-Barre.
Bagley was pronounced dead at the scene. Her husband, 26-year-old Bradley, and neighbor Thomas Harris were listed in fair condition at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.
"This poor woman was a victim. She was at the house and caught in the middle," Musto Carroll said.
She said authorities believe Cooper intended to kill Shaundra Langille, who was hiding in a closet with her 9-month-old daughter and another child during the shooting.
"None of the children were injured, thank God," Musto Carroll said.
The two had been in Luzerne County Court a day earlier in connection with competing protection from abuse orders. The judge granted temporary custody of their child to Langille and issued a one-year order barring personal contact between the couple.
A cousin of the victim, James Burney of Wilkes-Barre, called Bagley "a sweet person" who had a run-in with Cooper prior to the shooting.
"She had a big heart," he said. "Her problem was she had too big of a heart."
Langille said she was thankful to be alive, but was saddened about her friend's death. She said they were supposed to celebrate that night.
"We were supposed to have a luau for her birthday," Langille said

Police say Fred Bittman, 52, walked up to his ex-girlfriend, Shelia Bejster, 48, and shot her twice. She fell to the ground in the 1800 block of 8th Avenue. Then Bittman took off and ran into an apartment at 505 West 18th Street. Once officers got inside, they found Bittman and another woman Verna Rosas, 34, shot and killed. Investigators say Bittman shot himself. The first victim, Bejster is in critical condition at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center.

Assisting self-murder. Every person deliberately assisting another in the commission of self-murder shall be guilty of manslaughter, a felony of the second degree.
On the evening of June 6, 2009, sheriff's deputies rushed to a residence on Bridge Road in Port St. John after a reported suicide.
Kevin Ragan told dispatchers that his wife, Heather DeSautel, had shot herself in the mouth with a handgun. He was hysterical.
"Deputy McGowen checked the decedent for a pulse and pronounced her deceased at 2127 hours," reads the case report from the Brevard County Sheriff's
Office.
Three months after his wife's death, prosecutors charged Ragan, using an 1868 Florida statute, for allegedly assisting in the suicide of his wife. Investigators concluded Ragan placed four loaded handguns on the bed in the middle of a heated argument that evening after she threatened suicide.
"Fine, do what you want," he allegedly told his wife.
Both of them had been drinking. Their son, then 4, was home.
The assisting self-murder statute, on the books in Florida for 143 years, has rarely been used. But when it is, it gives rise to much legal debate about whether a defendant intended to cause a suicide.
In fact, so rare is its usage that local prosecutors have difficulty remembering the last time it was employed in Brevard. One assistant state attorney said the charge has been lodged twice in the past 30 years, but was not able to provide any details.
The Ragan case could go to trial as early as next month. So far, defense attorney Greg Eisenmenger has not agreed to any plea agreement, insisting his client is innocent. The defense lawyer said the self-murder statute has been used
in the past in a "Kevorkian-type situation," meaning that it has been used to charge people who assisted suicides of the terminally ill.
"We are not taking a plea deal in the case. It would brand him a convicted felon," Eisenmenger said. "Mr. Ragan feels very strongly that he could not live with himself or look his son in the eye if he admitted he was complicit in his wife's death."
If found guilty, Ragan, 37, could face up to 15 years in prison.
Too vague?
Last year, Eisenmenger filed documents arguing Florida's assisted self-
murder statute was unconstitutional because it's too vague.

Chesapeake, WV: Man Confesses In Stabbing Death
An argument over a girlfriend is believed to have been at the heart of an Wednesday morning murder in the Kanawha County community of Chesapeake.
Police say William Proctor, 30, of Witcher Creek was stabbed in the neck and shoulder area as he sat in a car near the corner of 116th Street and MacCorkle Avenue in Chesapeake sometime after midnight Wednesday morning.
Police have charged Joshua Long, 23, of Chesapeake with the murder.
Chesapeake Police Chief Jack Ice says the girlfriend, Natalie Brown of Chesapeake, was in the car with Long, but left his car and climbed into another vehicle with the victim Proctor and the victim's father.
"When she got into the vehicle, the accused ran up to the vehicle and stabbed the victim one time in the neck and shoulder area,” said Ice.
Proctor was driven to the Marmet area where Kanawha County paramedics attempted to save him but could not.
Soon afterward Ice went to a home where he learned Long was hiding.
"He was advised of his rights and he led me to the area where he had thrown the weapon away and then he gave a full confession to the crime," said Ice.
The weapon was a Marine Corps K-Bar knife. It's been recovered. I
Chief Ice says from all indications, the victim never saw it coming.
"It was so quick and the wound was probably so traumatic there was probably no way he could survive it," Ice said.
Long remains in the South Central Regional Jail without bail after being arraigned on the murder charge.

Houston, TX: Man wanted for questioning in stabbing death of girlfriend

Police are searching for a man considered a "person of interest" in the fatal stabbing of his girlfriend at an apartment complex in southeast Houston last month, officials said.
Mario Alberto Garcia-Trejo, 29, is wanted for questioning in the death of Estrella Hernandez Flores, also known as "Nelly," at 2505 Broadway about 11:45 p.m. April 17, according to the Houston Police Department.
Police said Garcia-Trejo is not charged in the case.
Officers were dispatched to the Broadway Park Apartments on a call about a person down. When they arrived, they discovered Flores, 36, had been stabbed multiple times. She was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Investigators later determined Garcia-Trejo was Flores' boyfriend.
Investigators also are searching for Garica-Trejo's 2002 gray Ford Escape, which was sold to a person known only as Cachis, police added. The license plate number is not known.

Police are searching for a man considered a "person of interest" in the fatal stabbing of his girlfriend at an apartment complex in southeast Houston last month, officials said.
Mario Alberto Garcia-Trejo, 29, is wanted for questioning in the death of Estrella Hernandez Flores, also known as "Nelly," at 2505 Broadway about 11:45 p.m. April 17, according to the Houston Police Department.
Police said Garcia-Trejo is not charged in the case.
Officers were dispatched to the Broadway Park Apartments on a call about a person down. When they arrived, they discovered Flores, 36, had been stabbed multiple times. She was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Investigators later determined Garcia-Trejo was Flores' boyfriend.
Investigators also are searching for Garica-Trejo's 2002 gray Ford Escape, which was sold to a person known only as Cachis, police added. The license plate number is not known.

Las Vegas, NV: Man dies after squeezing into stranger's window with toddler in tow

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) – It's a bizarre break-in that has neighbors astounded and police scratching their heads. A man is dead after investigators say he tried to squeeze through a stranger's window on Wednesday morning.
It happened around 8 am Wednesday in the 1900 block of Brandon Court near East Lake Mead and Los Feliz.
Police are calling the circumstances "extremely unusual" due to the fact that the motive doesn't seem to be obvious.
What's even more bizarre: police say that this intruder tried to get into the home with a toddler in tow.
The man apparently cut himself on the sharp glass while trying to crawl through the window. He died on the property.
"I feel sorry for him, I also feel sorry for my neighbor," said neighbor Hawk Bojanski. "This is just crazy."
The attention and curiosity of neighbors on Brandon Court has been focused on the kitchen window that was shattered.
Neighbors have been wondering what this man was thinking to risk his life, and potentially another young life, trying to squeeze through the jagged opening.
"It's a shame that he died, but he brought it on himself it seems like," said neighbor Tony Sophia.
Police believe this intruder may have picked this northeast valley home at random following a domestic dispute at a nearby complex.
The man apparently went into the backyard, with an elderly couple inside the home.
That's when police say he proceeded to try to gain entry into the home. Right now, the motive doesn't not appear to be robbery and police still aren't sure what this man was trying to accomplish.
"There is no indication that they know him or knew him, unless he confused them with a home he knows. Right now, it's an extremely unusual case," said Jay Rivera with Las Vegas Metro Police.
Police are not commenting any further about a 2-year-old's involvement in this situation. Police do confirm that the child was uninjured in the incident.
Authorities are now waiting on autopsy results to find out exactly what killed this man. At this point, his death is being called accidental.
Investigators have interviewed the man's girlfriend, who was involved in the previous domestic incident. She tells officers that he was not wounded when he left the nearby apartment.

Gilroy, CA: Gilroy man accused of killing puppy

A Gilroy man was arrested Monday on suspicion of killing a 6-week-old puppy during an argument with his wife, according to the Gilroy Police Department.
Bud Wally Ruiz, 53, turned himself in to police four days after a late-night dispute in the 8800 block of Morey Way where he assaulted his wife and threw her puppy against the wall, killing it, according to the GPD.
Police said Ruiz fled the scene while his wife called 911.
Officers responded to a report of a domestic violence incident around 10 p.m. Thursday night. It was during an investigation that police learned Ruiz committed the assault and killed the puppy before fleeing, GPD Officer Amanda Stanford said.
Ruiz was arrested on felony animal cruelty and domestic violence charges, according to Stanford. He was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail in San Jose, where he is still in custody on $40,000 bail, according to Sgt. Rick Sung with the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Department.
