ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - A 32-year-old Rochester man admits that he fatally stabbed a 22-year-old woman with garden shears in her apartment.
Tyrone Manor pleaded guilty Tuesday to second-degree murder in the death of Desiree Curry. Monroe County Court Judge John Connell agreed to consider a prison term ranging from 15 years to life to 20 years to life when he sentences Manor on Jan. 15.
Curry was killed in her apartment in October 2008. Manor was arrested four months later at his wife's home.
Manor had an on & off relationship with Curry. He said he threw garden shears at her during an argument, hitting her in the back. The shears pierced her aorta.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
